Alkrington
Routine podiatry
Toenails cut and thinned, hard skin and corns taken down, and your feet checked over by an HCPC-registered podiatrist. The kind of care that keeps you walking comfortably, done properly and without fuss.

What’s included
Everything your feet need in one visit
Each routine appointment is tailored to what your feet need that day. Usually that means:
- Nail care Toenails cut and filed, and thickened nails reduced so they sit comfortably in your shoes.
- Hard skin and corns Callus taken down and corns removed with sterile instruments. It shouldn’t hurt, and most people feel the difference straight away.
- Skin checks Between the toes and around the heels for cracks, athlete’s foot and anything that needs keeping an eye on.
- Circulation and feeling Checked at your first visit and again whenever something changes, which matters most if you have diabetes.
- Advice On footwear, skin care and cutting your nails between visits, and when to come back.
Who it’s for
For anyone who wants their feet looked after properly
Many of our routine patients find their own nails hard to manage: thick nails, poor eyesight, a stiff back or arthritic hands all make it difficult. Others come for hard skin that keeps building up, or for regular checks because they have diabetes or problems with circulation.
Most people come back every six to ten weeks, depending on how quickly their nails and skin grow. We’ll suggest an interval at the end of each visit, and we can send you a text and email reminder before your next appointment.
Podiatry or chiropody?
The same profession, with a newer name
Podiatry is the modern name for chiropody. Both titles are protected by law, so anyone calling themselves a podiatrist or a chiropodist must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Every podiatrist at Alkrington Podiatry is registered, insured and educated to degree and master’s level.

FAQs
Questions about routine podiatry
Does routine treatment hurt?
It shouldn’t. Removing hard skin and corns is painless when it’s done properly, because only dead skin is taken away. Tell us if anything feels uncomfortable and we’ll stop.
What happens at my first appointment?
We take your medical history and a list of your medicines, check your skin, nails, circulation and the feeling in your feet, then carry out the treatment you need. It takes about 45 minutes and costs £50.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. We’re a private clinic and you can book directly.
